On Saturday, I went to the lovely lakeside village of Chambly, Quebec, with my friend Andrei and his wife Gabi, and for the first time in my life I tried my hand at fishing. I’m not sure why I’ve never tried it, but I really took to it.. It’s relaxing, exciting, and downright enjoyable. I will definitely be doing it again!
I’ve written a few words to try and capture my experience:
Eager; I’m going fishing!
Overwhelmed; This rod seems complicated.
Relieved; Casting is easier than I thought.
Confused; Too much line, tangles, aargh.
Determined; I can figure this out.
Unafraid; It’s starting to make sense.
Surprised; A tug on the line…
Deflated; It got away.
Pumped; A real live creature on my line!
Delighted; I am fishing!
Confident; I get it, I have mastered the rod!
Energized; Boating time!
Ready; Live worms and beers on board.
Curious; Which bait & lures will attract fish the most?
Imaginative; Preparing my own lures.
Ouch! Hooks are sharp.
Ewww! Cutting up worms, fingers muddy.
Teehee! Lots of fish biting here.
D’oh! Almost had that one.
Frustrated; The worm was taken.
Concentrating; Re-bait and try again…
Trepidation; More tugs, the line stays taught.
Hesitant; I reel her in, cautiously.
Elation; I CAUGHT A FISH!
Calmness; An afternoon of fishing.
Happy; More bites, no more fish. It doesn’t matter either way.
Recollecting; So much more rewarding than I expected.
Anticipating; When can I fish again?
Here are a few photos:
I’m definitely “hooked”!
